Copybook CheckThis is the rubric I will use to grade the students' copybooks. Please make sure that all of the worksheets are neatly attached. If you are missing an assignment, please see the attachments below. Print a new copy and complete it before class on:
Unit 5 Lesson 1: What is Money?Welcome back Fourth Graders!! I hope you all had a lovely holiday. This week, we are going to jump right into our next unit: Money and Banking. At home, you should read pages 78 --> 80 in the Compass textbook and do pages 46 -> 49 in the Compass workbook. You can earn a bonus mark, by completing Questions 6 on a separate A4 piece of paper - create a mini-poster with examples of the currency in your home country. This task is due on:
The End of Unit 6This week, we will conclude our unit 6 study of pollution. I will be checking workbooks before the test on Thursday March 17. Students need to study from their copybook, Compass textbook, and Compass workbook. I will also be collecting copybooks on Thursday. The check will include:
Unit 6 Lessons 2 & 3: Air and Water PollutionLast week we studied air pollution; this week we will learn about water pollution. We watched Bill Nye's lesson about Pollution Solutions and conducted an air pollution experiment. We also read The Wump World and made connections between their world and ours. This week we will finish our Sticky Wicket air pollution experiment and start writing short Pollution Solution stories. The Pollution Solution story must include all of the story elements:
All of the worksheets and papers are attached. These papers should all be neatly glued into students' copybooks.
This week we will wrap up our conversation about Egyptian religion, the afterlife and mummifications. I am posting the PowerPoints from class, so that students may catch up on any missing notes. The videos summarize what we have discussed. Also attached is the criteria for our first homework assignment!! Students must research one of the Egyptian gods, write 5 sentences describing this god, and draw a colorful picture to bring their work to life. All picture and writing must be the student's own work. Work that is printed or copied from the internet will not be accepted.
First of all, I just want to say CONGRATULATIONS to everyone that did so well on our chapter 2 test. There were so many excellent grades; there were even a few perfect marks!! Keep up the great work :) If you weren't happy with your grade, don't worry!! You will have another chance to prove how much you know on the term final. We have started discussing the people who lived in Ancient Mesopotamia. We are studying the geography of their homeland, how an ancient city-state was structured, and what the people achieved. We won't have time to finish the chapter, but we will complete lessons 1 - 3 before the exam. The class resources are attached.
It's time to get ready for the Chapter 2 test! You are responsible for all of the vocabulary words and information in your copybook. Use the worksheets from class as your number 1 study aid. Don't spend a lot of time reading through the red texbook; there is way too much information there! Attached are: the notes from class, the revision work answers, and an awesome graphic organizer that will help you understand how the vocabulary words are related.
This week and next, we will be studying Chapter 2 Lesson 3 and concluding our look at early agriculture and the first civilizations. The essential questions for this lesson are:
