Minoans, Mycenaeans, Myths and the Dark Age...
What does it all mean?!
During this time, the Greeks returned to a simpler way of life. Gone were the large palaces with bathrooms that flushed! People lived as farmers and herders and many of the achievements made in writing, art, and metal work disappeared. Luckily, epics such as the Iliad and the Odyssey kept the traditions and beliefs of the Minoans and Mycenaeans alive. It is through these epic poems, that historians and archeologists found the ruins of the Palace at Knossos and the city of Troy at Hissarlik.
This crazy video by the fast talking John Green does an excellent job describing the beginning of this Dark Age and also explains how we can make connections to our world today.
