Starting next week, one student per lesson will have an opportunity to share an interesting story from somewhere else in the world. Students will need find an appropriate article, then summarize the: who, what, when, where, and why of that article. They will also need to explain who this event affects and explain why this event is important. On their presentation day, students will have 3 - 5 minutes to share what they learned with the class. The following websites have fantastic kid friendly articles. While these articles are written with elementary and middle school students in mind, I would still encourage this assignment to be completed with a parent, in order to ensure that all articles are school appropriate.
Below, is a completed example of what is expected, a blank copy of the worksheet that must be completed, and the signup sheets. Click on the PDF for your class and double check when you are scheduled to present!

This week, we are studying the countries in the Arab League. Pairs of students have been given information about one of the Arab League countries. They need to read this information, complete the worksheet, and create a small poster (A3 paper) that includes the most important information about this country. The majority of the work will be completed in class. If students want to print color pictures of the flag, map, major cities, or resources, this needs to be done at home. Students can bring the pictures to school and assemble their poster during class time. Below, are the readings and the worksheet. Note. Posters will be collected on:
This past week, we read Unit 1 Lesson 1: The Arab League's formation. Students were asked to complete the corresponding lesson in their workbook, pages 5 - 7.

This week we will finish our study of the founding of Rome and the Roman Republic (Chapter 12 Lessons 1 & 2). By the end of the week, students should have completed the following assignments. I will be collecting copybooks at the end of the week.
Completing thess assignments will also help students to prepare for the quiz on Monday (6C), Tuesday (6A) or Wednesday (6AA & 6B) of next week. This quiz will cover Chapter 12 Lessons 1 & 2 and everything in this copybook so far this term. Below are videos about Romulus and Remus and the Roman Republic and the worksheets from class.
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a relaxing and fun filled spring break. This week we began our unit on the Ancient Romans. In class, students complete a map detailing the geography of Italy. Over the weekend, I would like students to please read Chapter 12 Lesson 1: The Founding of Rome (pages 468 - 473) in the red textbook. Students should then complete the Founding of Rome worksheet in their copybook. If students can become familiar with the information at home, we will be able to do more fun and interactive activities in class, and won't have to take so many notes!! The homework is attached. Also, check out these video lectures about the Ancient Romans. These videos are a nice review of what you read in Chapter 12 Lesson 1.
